YANGON - BAGO - KYAIKTHIYO - BAGAN - MANDALAY - INLE - YANGON
Day 1
Our guide will greet you upon your arrival in Yangon and after
clearing the airport we will ferry you to Bago. On the way we’ll
stop at Yangon’s war cemetery to remember those lost during the
Second World War.
Along the way we’ll also stop in at the Shwe Nyaung Bin shrine,
which includes a banyan tree believed to be the home of a spirit.
That spirit is reputed to have special powers that help those who
bless the spirit correctly to avoid accidents.
When you arrive in Bago you’ll be whisked away for a quick lunch
before continuing the drive along to Kyaikhtiyo, or the Golden Rock,
a journey that should take a little less than three hours.
After checking in the hotel, you can enjoy the amazing views from
the mountaintop and the Golden Rock itself, which seems precariously
balanced right on the edge of a cliff.
Dinner will follow and you will spend the night at the Kyaikhtiyo
Hotel.
Day 2
In the morning, you can either pray or do some sightseeing around
the Golden Rock, before the drive back to Bago. On the way we’ll
stop in at a local market and see the Kya Khat Weing monastery and
Shwe Thar Lyaung, one of Myanmar’s most beautiful Reclining Buddha
images. We’ll also stop in to see the Shwe Mawdaw and Lay Myat Nar
pagodas, which features four Buddha images facing different
directions, and have a look a the palace of Kanbawzatardi.
Before driving back to Yangon there will be a lunch in Bago to
provide enough energy for the rest of the day.
In Yangon you will visit the Kabar Aye Pagoda, which includes a jade
temple, a White Elephant and Buddha tooth relics.
Day 3
After breakfast we will transfer you to Yangon Airport and fly to
Bagan, which is the country’s premier tourist attraction and a famed
archaeological site.
There are so many interesting places to visit that tourists hardly
even need a map to have a memorable trip. However, the Shwezigon
Pagoda and Damanyangyi are biggest, while the Ananda temple has some
of the best craftsmanship.
Lunch will be eaten in Bagan before we take you along to see
traditional lacquerware being made in a workshop. Later that day we
will also visit the Manuha, Khupyoutgyi and Shwesandaw pagodas.
That evening’s entertainment begins with a sunset viewing from one
the uppermost platform’s of a pagoda, before moving along to dinner
and a sound night’s sleep.
Day 4
The day begins with breakfast at the hotel before a quick drive
over to the airport for your flight to Mandalay. After checking in
at your hotel we will drive you to the ancient royal city of
Amarapura. One of the city’s greatest attractions is the wooden U
Bein Bridge that crosses the Taungtaman Lake. The scene of and
surrounding this bridge is breathtaking. After the visit to
Amarapura we will take you to see the Maha Gandayon Monastery where
you can study the monastic life and watch monks go about their daily
tasks.
After that it will be time to return to Mandalay for lunch before we
continue on to the Golden Monastery, or Shwe Gyaung, and Kuthodaw
Pagoda – home to the world’s biggest book – and Kyaukdawgyi pagoda.
Then we will take you to see sun set from Mandalay Hill, before
dinner and bed.
Day 5
In the early morning, we will take you to the immense Mahamuni
Pagoda and its compound to pray before proceeding to Inle by air.
After arriving in Heho, which some people call the gateway to Shan
State.
Along the way you’ll see Shan farmers – and their counterparts from
other ethnic groups – working their fields. We will also pay a visit
to the Shwe Yan Pye wooden monastery before having have lunch on
Inle Lake.
After the meal, an afternoon of leisurely sightseeing around the
lake awaits. The people who live on the lake enjoy a unique
lifestyle based around fishing, farming and harvesting. Most
visitors are stunned by the sight of beds of tomato plants floating
on the lake’s surface.
During the day we will also visit the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda and see
traditional craftworks, like silk and lotus weaving, in Inn Pawkhon
village.
At the end of a long day there will be dinner at Hotel.
Day 6
After breakfast on the sixth morning we will transfer you by boat
back to the village of Nyaung Shwe before the drive back to Heho
Airport, which usually takes about one hour. From Heho the flight
will take you back to Yangon.
Many attractions await the tourist in Yangon, which is a large,
metropolitan city whose people always seem to be smiling. In that
city you will have the opportunity to visit the impressive
Chauktawgyi, Sule and Botahtaung pagodas before exploring the
biggest of all – the marvellous Shwedagon Pagoda. That night you
will enjoy a buffet dinner at the Karaweik Palace on the edge of
Kandawgyi Lake in Yangon.
Day 7
The following morning we will take you to Yangon International
Airport for your departing flight from Myanmar.
